All our caregivers are part of our CARE Academy. This specialized training provides ongoing professional development, coaching and mentorship. When caregivers can direct their own career path and growth they are more fulfilled and provide better quality of care for you and your loved ones.

Lorna MacMillan

President and Founder

Meet our President and Founder of Parkwood Home Care, Lorna MacMillan.

On her journey of developing Parkwood, Lorna studied Psychology and Adult Education within University. Through years of experience with individuals with disabilities and a strong passion for helping others, Lorna was able to create Parkwood Home Care into the care service it is today.

During her free time, you can often find Lorna reading, golfing, and playing Tennis. Most of all, she enjoys spending time traveling with her husband Mark and her two “kids” Jake and Rachel. She also loves visiting her parents and siblings in Moncton where she grew up. While living in Halifax, the city has become her happy place. Lorna finds that there is so much to do in Halifax and Haligonians are such nice people! You can often find her at the waterfront and Point Pleasant Park with her family and dog Izzy.

Parkwood Home Care is all about caring for others and the quality of care Parkwood provides cannot happen without the respect and dedication each of the Parkwood team has for each other. Lorna promotes a positive and safe environment for caregivers and clients while ensuring individuals are able to live independently in their own homes.

Tracy McKeown

Lead Coordinator and Community Liaison Officer

Tracy McKeown is Parkwood Home Care’s Lead Coordinator and Community Liaison Officer. Along with Emma and Mary, she strives to match our clients and caregivers and put into place a consistent schedule to meet the needs of our clients.

In her role as Community Liaison Officer, she gathers information from clients through visits to their homes to build a care plan which is invaluable in finding that all important match and for ensuring an excellent standard of care. Tracy enjoys checking in with both our clients and caregivers and maintaining open lines of communication; as well as, enjoys the process of interviewing new Care Professionals and welcoming them to our Parkwood team. She also liaises with other agencies linked to home care and enjoys sharing Parkwood’s amazing reputation wherever she goes.

Tracy feels lucky to be part of an amazing team. To know that she can contribute positively in the life of a client and their family. She gets to work every day with people she genuinely loves and respects in a supportive, inclusive and encouraging environment.

Naa Hammond

On-Call Care Coordinator

Naa Hammond is the On-Call Care Coordinator which means she does all the after hours and weekend scheduling; as well as, answering the phones for both clients and employees. She also handles all of the emergencies that come up outside of the office hours.

Naa studied Medical office Administration at NSCC and worked part time as a caregiver for Parkwood Homecare before she was promoted to her current position as On-Call Care Coordinator. She acquired skills as a graduate of MOA and her caregiving experiences both come together to give her both on field and in office footing for her current position. Naa is also a Continuing Care Assistant in training!

During her free time, Naa enjoys watching movies or going out to eat. She also loves to travel and experience different cultures. Naa loves the peace and quiet of Halifax as compared to other cities in Canada. It is a good place to build and grow. She also loves all the seafood restaurants.

Emma Otis

Care Coordinator

Emma Otis is a Care Coordinator with Parkwood Home Care. Being a Care Coordinator allows her to connect with each client and caregiver while working on their schedules. Emma is typically the first person you will hear when calling the office and is always eager to help in any way that she can.

Emma studied Bachelor of Science (Recreation) at Dalhousie University and Human Services at NBCC. She began her journey within the healthcare field while working in a Long Term Care facility as a Long Term Care Assistant/Recreation Programmer. She has always had a passion working with individuals who require assistance within their daily life. Being a part of the Parkwood Home Care team allows her to continue her passion of helping others while ensuring the best care possible is being provided.

In her free time, Emma enjoys walking on the Halifax Waterfront and video calling her family in New Brunswick. She also enjoys watching movies with her fiance Chris and cat Simon. While attending University, Emma fell in love with the city of Halifax and never wanted to leave. She loves the city feeling of Halifax and being able to explore the streets for hours finding small businesses to support along the way. Peggy’s Cove also has a special spot in her heart and the lovely views of Nova Scotia.

Mary Pauls

Care Coordinator

Mary Pauls is the newest member to our team! She is a Care Coordinator with Parkwood Home Care which allows her to work with scheduling clients and caregivers appropriately. You may hear Mary’s friendly voice on the other end of the phone when calling into the office.

She has lots of experience within the work environment while being in the positions of Business Development Manager for Credit Union, Business Banker for Scotiabank, and VP of On Hold Communications Inc and DPO Broadcasting. Mary has experience caring for her Mom; as well as, experience with a couple while working as a part of the Newfoundland Ladies caring for Veterans.

In her free time, Mary loves to create videos on social media to help support local businesses hit reset and she loves to go live. You will hear her voice on Parkwood Home Care’s social media! Mary loves paddle boarding, zumba, photography and cooking with wine. She loves the view from the bridges and taking the ferry back and forth to Halifax whenever possible. She loves the ocean and takes every opportunity to be on the waterfront and of course the many restaurants and pubs!
